As a little girl I was always told you know one day you being nosey will pay off.

I had just picked up my two year old from my mother’s house when I noticed a group of people at Holiday gas station in a circle looking down toward the ground. The noisy part of me was curious about what was going on with the group of people. As I drove down the street a little more I could see a man laying on the ground face up not moving. My first though was I’m in the car with my fifteen year old, two year old and newborn baby and I should just keep going but something deep down inside of me said turn around your children will be okay while you try to help this man.

Once I made it in the parking lot of the Holiday gas station; I burly got my car in park before I was trying to jump out of it. I jumped out of my car like there was no tomorrow, ran over to the man and asked the lady that was already there trying to help the man “What’s going on? Is everything under control”? The lady looked up at me with a look in her eyes that sent a chill thru my body and said “no he just fell out and now he’s not responding”. After that I decided to stand there and observe the scene for a moment. I could not believe that there were so many people standing around watching. I also watched the man that was trying to help the lady giving breathes to the man with the chest compression’s to complete the cycle of CPR. The man was trying his hardest to help this man that is blue at this point. I said “you are not dong it right, let me do it”. I began the chest compression’s and completed three cycles I said “check his mouth” at this point the man was gurgling and his color had started to return to normal, so I knew that we were making progress. The lady and I continued CPR until the medics got there.

I could not sleep well not knowing if the man I tried to help made it or not. As soon as I woke up I called the gas station to check if they had heard anything about the man. I was informed that they have not heard anything about the man and they would call me when they did hear something. Later in the day I received a phone call from this lady.
Lady: Hello
Me: Hello
Lady: is this NaFeeSha
Me: this is she
Lady: Hello this is the daughter of the man you helped yesterday. I stopped by the gas station and I was given your phone number from the manager. I waned to thank you so much for what you did for my father. He is not all the way back but he is doing good. If it was not for you turning around and doing CPR on my father he would not be here, you said his life and I and so grateful for you and your help.
Me: You’re welcome I just thought I should stop to see if everything was okay. I am so happy to hear that your father is doing okay.
Lady: Thank you again I am so grateful for you, there should be more people like you in the world.
Me: You’re welcome I hope your father gets well soon.
Lady: Thanks to you he should be fine, God bless you bye.
Me: Bye

I thank the man upstairs for giving me the strength and know how to help this family.

    1. I think dad is proud of me for helping someone I did not know. I think more people should help out others just because it is the right thing to do.

    1. I was not scared of helping the man either. I believe in my heart that more people should try to help one another no matter if you know the other person or not.
